Earlier, poultry died in mass with unknown cause in PhiengLuong village, Dai Dong commune, Trang Dinh district.
After testing samples from the dead fowls, the agency foundthat they are positive to A/H5N6 virus. The local authorities later destroyedthose suspected of virus infection.
The agency requested the public to stay away from sick anddead fowls and their droppings.
It also asked local authorities to spray chemicals todecontaminate farms while banning the sale, slaughter and transportation of poultryproducts in affected areas.-VNA
The Department of Animal Health under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has warned of a high risk of the return of avian influenza in Vietnam after the epidemic was put under control for a long period of time.
Provinces across the country are taking action to prevent the spread of disease that has affected cattle and poultry breeding facilities and farms in recent weeks.
Health experts are advising people to take precautions to prevent epidemics and diseases that frequently occur in the first three months of the year during the humid weather and crowded festivals, said Tran Dac Phu, head of the Ministry of Health’s Department of Preventive Medicine.
