AIPA-45 expected to adopt many important documents

Vientiane (VNA) - The Lao National Secretariat of the 45th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-45) on October 15 held a press conference to inform about the preparation for the event that is scheduled to take place from October 17 - 23 in Vientiane.
Speaking to the press, Chairman of the Lao National Assembly (NA)'s Committee for Foreign Affairs and Head of the AIPA-45 National Secretariat Sanya Praseuth said that AIPA-45 with the theme "The Role of Parliaments in Enhancing Connectivity and Inclusive Growth in ASEAN” will welcome delegations led by heads of the Parliaments of AIPA member countries, delegations of observer parliaments; AIPA development partners, the Secretary-General of ASEAN, the AIPA Secretary-General and Lao delegates.
AIPA-45 will include meetings such as the AIPA Executive Committee Meeting; meetings of the Political Committee, Economic Committee, Social Committee, and Organisation Committee; Women Parliamentarians of AIPA Meeting (WAIPA); AIPA Young Parliamentarians Meeting; Joint Statement Committee Meeting; the meeting between the AIPA Secretariat and the ASEAN Secretariat; and the meeting with Observer Parliamentarians.
These meetings will discuss and approve 38 draft resolutions, including four documents on politics, eight on economic affairs, five on social affairs, two on women's affairs, three on youth work and 16 on internal affairs.
The Lao official said that participants to AIPA-45 will also discuss regional and world issues of common interest to strengthen integration within ASEAN and between ASEAN and other regions, to help ASEAN's economy become stronger, to narrow the gap in development levels, to improve people's lives and to move forward together, and leave no one behind.
