Ambassador seeks to enhance economic, educational ties between Vietnamese, Italian localities

Rome (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy NguyenThi Bich Hue has paid a working visit to the Veneto region to promote economic and trade cooperation between the two sides.
During her meeting with Roberto Marcato, councillor foreconomic development of Veneto, the two sides consented toactively implement the cooperation agreement reached by Vietnam’s southernprovince of Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Veneto in 2018, especially in tourism, seaports,renewable energy and digital economy.
The two sides will join hands in preparing for theorganisation of the meeting of the Vietnam-Italy joint committee for economiccooperation, and other socio-economic events to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, and the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership, especially through the online form.
Hue also met with Tiziana Lippiello, Rector of Ca'Foscari University, and Albrecht Benno, Rector of Iuav University of Venice,during which they compared notes on collaboration in tertiary education andscientific research.
On this occasion, the ambassador attended a ceremony to introduce a book on Vietnam’sand Cuba’s experience in the COVID-19 combat, which was organised by the chapters of the Italy-Vietnam and Italy-Cuba friendship associations in Veneto.
She also handed over a certificate of merit of the VietnameseForeign Ministry's State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs to PhamHung Vuong, former President of the Vietnamese Students’ Association in Italy, for hiscontributions to connecting students of the two countries.
Nearly 100 Vietnamese students are studying inuniversities in the Italian region./.
A batch of more than 2.02 million doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine presented by the Italian Government to Vietnam via the COVAX Facility arrived in Hanoi on October 15.
