Buenos Aires (VNA) – Ambassador to Argentina andParaguay Dang Xuan Dung visited Paraguay from April 24-26 to bolster friendshipand cooperation between Vietnam and Paraguay and discuss bilateral cooperationprogramme in 2019.

The ambassador had meetings with Asuncion Mayor Mario AnibalFerreiro Sanabria and leaders of some departments of Paraguay’s ForeignMinistry.

At the meetings, Ambassador Dung proposed a number ofmeasures to boost future collaboration in politics, economy, trade, investment,culture, education and tourism, as well as activities to celebrate the 25thanniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations in 2020.

The two sides reached consensus on action plans in 2019,including the increase of visits among ministries, sectors and localities ofthe two countries at different levels, and coordination in organising theVietnam Day in Asuncion – Paraguay’s capital city this year.

Both sides shared information on the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR)situation. The Paraguay side showed support to the plan to start negotiationsfor a free trade agreement between Vietnam and the MERCOSUR.

During his stay in Paraguay, Ambassador Dung had a talk atthe Paraguay Academy of Diplomacy on the current situation in Vietnam, thecountry’s external policies as well as the Vietnam-Paraguay partnership.-VNA
