Kuala Lumpur (VNA) - Cuba and Malaysia need to deepen their cooperation in the fields of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, particularly in producing vaccines, according to Cuban Ambassador to Malaysia Florentino Batista Gonzalez.

Cuba can tap into Malaysia's strengths in technology in both sectors to help Kuala Lumpur produce its own pharmaceutical products, including vaccines.

Gonzalez said that Malaysia has strong skillset competencies in biotechnology, not only via companies but also in its universities, to produce medical products and engage in research and development.

♑ In addition, the diplomat expressed his hope that Malaysia, as the Chair of ASEAN next year, will help Cuba use the country as a launchpad to penetrate Southeast Asian markets, especially in terms of healthcare products and services./.
