Hanoi (VNA) - Prime Ministerof Papua New Guinea Peter O'Neill said on July 9 that the Asia-Pacific EconomicCooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting, which will be held in Papua NewGuinea in November, will provide an enormous opportunity for many economies inthe region.

The PM made the remarks whileaddressing the Fijian parliament on the progress of preparations by his countryin hosting the event during his two-day visit to Fiji (July 8-9).

APEC is a 21-memberforum that includes China, Japan, Russia, the United States and many largeglobal economies promoting free trade throughout the Asia Pacific region, hesaid, adding that the meeting will be attended by nearly 9,000 delegates fromall over the world.

O'Neill also called on APEC member economies to work together to achieve commongoals.-VNA
