The Committee on Parliamentary Affairs of the Francophone’s Parliamentary Assembly (APF) convened in Hanoi on April 27.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Vietnam’s National Assembly ViceChairman Uong Chu Luu said the three-day meeting offers a chance forVietnam to learn from the experience of the committee and other APFmembers in parliamentary activities.
Vietnam highly valuesAPF’s motto and objectives, Luu said, adding that the organisationplays an active part in the Francophone community’s institution throughinitiating and deploying activities to boost parliamentarian cooperationand solidarity.
He affirmed that the Vietnamsub-committee, in its capacity as the APF Vice Chairman, has activelyparticipated in the oragnisation’s activities to strengthen friendshipand cultural exchange as well as promote cooperation and developmentwith APF members.
The Vietnamese legislative leader addedthat the International Francophone Organisation and the Francophonecommunity’s members always hold an important position in Vietnam’sexternal relations policy.
For his part, APF PresidentRobert Aubin spoke highly of Vietnam National Assembly’s active role andcontributions to bilateral and multilateral activities in the APF.
According to the official, the Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, asone of the four standing committees in the APF, plays an important rolein implementing the organisation’s activities. It is in charge of thestudy and review of parliament’s common interests as well asinter-parliamentary cooperation and legal-related issues within theFrancophone community.-VNA
