Hanoi (VNA)🐭 – The victory of the Vietnamese people in the resistance against the US was a monumental achievement in Vietnam’s cause of national liberation and unification led by President Ho Chi Minh and the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), said General Secretary of the Brazil – Vietnam Friendship Association Pedro De Oliveira.
Speaking to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA)'s correspondent in South America on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – 2025), Oliveira, who is also a journalist and a historian, said that the April 30, 1975 victory of Vietnam marked the first time the US military was defeated by a small nation in the Southern hemisphere.

After the war, Vietnam once again showed its determination to build the country and implement the “Doi Moi (Renewal) process initiated in 1986 by the CPV.
For nearly 40 years, Vietnam has achieved significant achievements in all areas, particularly in the economy, an impressively bright spot. The socialist-oriented market economy has developed strongly. Vietnam has become one of the world’s leading exporters of rice and many agricultural products. The material and spiritual lives of the people have improved significantly.
In foreign affairs, Vietnam has also achieved numerous important milestones, creating favourable conditions to ensure security and development and enhance the country's position, while actively contributing to the establishment and maintenance of peace and stability in the region and in the world.
Recalling his memories of participating in the anti-war movement in the late 1960s, Oliveira, who is now nearly 80 years old, stated that he joined protests against the war in Vietnam when he began studying at the University of São Paulo in 1968.
Oliveira said that at that time, he joined a student movement, fighting not only for democracy and against the military dictatorship in Brazil but also supporting peace and opposing the war in Vietnam and Indochina. They organised screenings of films sent by the National Liberation Front for South Vietnam, condemning the brutal actions of the US imperialist military, including the use of napalm bombs and Agent Orange.
According to journalist Oliveira, the anti-war activities and movements for peace worldwide at that time significantly contributed to the victory of the Vietnamese people on April 30, 1975.
Oliveira is also the author of a book about the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh in Portuguese. This work, which has been reprinted three times, won the first prize at the 8th National External Information Service Awards. The book is currently being translated into Spanish./.
During his visit from April 7-10, the Ambassador held meetings with the Government of Sao Paulo State, the Federation of Industries of the State of Sao Paulo (FIESP), and Friboi -a subsidiary of the JBS Group- to explore opportunities to further strengthen bilateral trade and investment, with a focus on Sao Paulo.

Long spoke highly of the dynamic, positive, and comprehensive development of Vietnam – Russia relations in recent years. He affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State place great importance on further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia in a substantive and effective manner, in line with the development needs of both nations.
At the conference, participants reported that the Government has so far issued 28 decrees on the delegation of responsibilities and powers between the central Government and two-tier local administrations. Several localities have already piloted the new governance model.
Reality is the ultimate benchmark for success, he said, urging drafting agencies to work out policies that foster development, reduce bureaucratic hurdles, and respect practical conditions.
Under the official dispatch signed on June 20, ministers, heads of ministerial-level agencies, and chairpersons of provincial and municipal People’s Committees are requested to concentrate efforts on implementing core measures to ensure the smooth operations of the new administrative framework.
The Party chief underscored the need for the press to innovate relentlessly, evolve to keep pace with the country's development, transform into a truly professional, humanistic, and modern sector that serves the cause of the Party, the State, and the people on the path to national construction and development.
The UN Secretary-General praised Vietnam’s remarkable achievements in socio-economic development and international integration in recent years, noting that the country has emerged as a model in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting international peace and security, and engaging in key UN processes.
Nghia affirmed that this is a milestone of special significance, affirming and honouring the the Vietnamese revolutionary press’s glorious tradition of 100 years of serving the revolutionary cause of the Party, serving the Fatherland, and serving the people.

Vietnam is ready to work with the Chinese Party and State to further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and promote the building of the Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.

NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man stressed the need to accelerate the application of artificial intelligence and smart teaching equipment, innovate teaching and assessment methods, and further improve the quality of formal education.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien welcomed the proposals put forward by the US side and reiterated Vietnam’s request for consideration of key areas of interest, including reciprocal tariff policies and access for Vietnamese key export products to the US market.
Deputy PM Le Thanh Long proposed countries promote shared values, including building trust, sincerity, and solidarity among nations and peoples; fostering cooperation spirit and responsible behaviour as well as upholding international law and the UN Charter; and placing people at the centre and as the goal, the key player, and the driving force of all policies.
