Buenos Aires (VNA) – Argentine Minister of Foreign Affairs JorgeMarcelo Faurie hosted a reception on July 1 for Vietnam’s designated AmbassadorDang Xuan Dung who presented him a copy of President Tran Dai Quang’scredentials.
Faurie spoke highly of Vietnam’s achievements in national constructionand development, while showing his good impression of the nation and people ofVietnam.
He also underscored high cooperation potentials between the twocountries, as well as the need for the two sides to exert more joint effortsand seek specific collaboration measures to beef up bilateral partnership.
For his part, designated Ambassador Dung sent President Tran Dai Quang’sregards and repeated the President’s invitation of visit Vietnam to ArgentinePresident Mauricio Marci.
He conveyed Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh’sinvitation to visit Vietnam to minister Faurie.
The diplomat noted that political relations between the two countries havebeen strengthened through regular exchange of delegations and meetings, as wellas the maintenance of bilateral cooperation mechanisms such as the Inter-GovernmentalCommittee and political consultations between the two foreign ministries.
At the same time, trade ties have also been bolstered with two-way tradeexceeding 3 billion USD in 2016, up 20 percent over 2015 and tripling that of2012. Argentina is currently the leading trade partner of Vietnam in the LatinAmerican region, said Dung.
He also pledged to work hard to further foster and develop the all-roundpartnership between the two countries, making the ties more practical andeffective in both bilateral and multilateral aspects.-VNA
