BuenosAires (VNA) – Many prestigiou꧃s newspapers in Argentina have highlighted thesignificance of Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Vuಞong Dinh Hue’sofficial visits to Cuba, Argentina and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay fromApril 18-28.
The Resumen Latinoamericano published an articleby Dr. Ruvislei González Sáez who said the visits demonstrate Vietnam'scommitment and wish to enhance multifaceted relations with the three LatinAmerican and Caribbean countries, not only through the parliamentary diplomacychannel but also as part of Vietnam's overall foreign policy of prioritisingthe deepening of friendship with traditional partners in the region.The article stressed that those are the highest-levelvisits by a Vietnamese leader to the region so far this year, and they carry additionalsignificance as they coincide with important historical events, including the 60th founding anniversary of the Cuban Committee for Solidarity with South Vietnam, the 50th anniversary of Fidel Castro Ruz's first visit to Vietnam, the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Argentina diplomatic ties and the 30th anniversary of the Vietnam-Uruguay diplomatic ties.
Vietnam has so far established official diplomaticrelations with all 33 countries in Latin America, demonstrating its policy of attaching importance to the development of ties with the region. According to the author, thevisits will mark a new phase in strengthening political and legislativerelations while opening up a new chapter in economic and trade ties between Vietnam and theLatin American region.

Talking with Vietnam News Agency before NA Chairman Hue’s visitto Argentina, journalist Gaston Fiorda, an expert on Southeast Asian affairs for the NationalRadio of Argentina, described Vietnam as an important partner of Argentina. According to him, leadersof this South American country attach importance to bilateral relations andconsider Vietnam a priority for the development of relations in the SoutheastAsia.
He spoke highly of mutual support of the two countries in dealing with the globalchallenges such as climate change, humanitarian assistance, COVID-19 preventionand control, and held that both sides have great potential to further enrich their cooperation for mutual benefits.
Apart from increasing trade in traditional sectorssuch as agriculture, electronics, leather and footwear, Fiorda highlighted opportunitiesfor bilateral cooperation in producing lithium batteries for electric vehicles.Argentina has one of the largest lithiumreserves in the world while Vietnam is considered a potential market for electric cars inthe near future.
