Buenos Aires (VNA) – The complete reunification of Vietnamon April 30, 1975 was an extremely significant event in the history of the countryand the world, opined a scholar from the Institute for International Relationsat the National University of La Plata, Argentina.

The complete victory of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign is ademonstration of the unyielding spirit and the strength of the unshakable greatsolidarity of the Vietnamese people, Ezequiel Ramoneda, Coordinator of the institute’sCentre for Southeast Asian Studies, said in an interview granted to the VietnamNews Agency ahead of the 49th anniversary of the South Liberation andNational Reunification (April 30, 1975 - 2024).

He held that the clear-sightedand smart leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) is the decisivefactor in every victory of the Vietnamese people during the safeguarding ofnational independence, freedom, and sovereignty.

Throughout the fights against foreign invaders, the national reconstruction and development after the liberation of the South, and the Doi moi (Renewal) period, the CPV has always shown its capacity offlexibly responding to any condition and circumstance, he noted.

On the basis of the 1975 victory, the Vietnamese people have builta country with relentless development and an unceasingly promoted stature inthe international arena. Over the past decades, Vietnam has continuallyrecorded high economic growth while people’s living standards considerablyimproved, Ramoneda said, noting that the CPV targets a developed andhigh-income status for the country by 2045.

The scholar said that in an article released on the occasionof the CPV’s 94th founding anniversary earlier this year, its General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong underlined the “blood-and-flesh”relationship between the Party and the people, and that the people form thegoal and impetus of the Vietnamese revolution, and the Party's leadership is thedecisive factor inspiring and promoting the people’s enormous role in thecountry’s revolutionary process.

In the international arena, Vietnam’s role and stature havealso been increasingly affirmed. The country has made numerous effectivecontributions to and successfully held key roles at organisations and forums, especially the United Nations and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).It has proactively proposed a number of creative ideas at importantinternational organisations and forums like ASEAN, the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM),the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), the UN, the G7, and the G20. Vietnamhas also established itself as an important link of many regional and globaleconomic connections, according to Ramoneda./.
