Hanoi (VNA) - An estimated 540,000 jobs have been generated in Vietnamin the first six months of this year, meeting just 36.5 percent of the settarget.
According to the Department of Employment under the Ministry of Labour,Invalids and Social Affairs, 120,000 jobs have been created in June alone.
The rate of trained workers was estimated at 62.4 percent in the January-June periodwhile the unemployment rate in urban areas was over 4 percent in the secondquarter of this year.
The Department of Employment is working to make reports on employment ofspecific groups including youths, rural labourers, labourers at border areas,ethnic minority labourers, labourers with disabilities, labourers whose landhas been acquired, and labourers who completed their prison sentence.
The department has also developed proposals for the update of the labour supplyand demand database, surveys on the need of employees in various types ofenterprises, forecasts of the labour market, and support of employmenttransactions in the 2021 - 2025 period.
In addition, the department has suggested that job service centres shouldenhance the connection between labour supply and demand and shorten therecruitment time in the context that the coronavirus has created huge impactson the employment market./.
An inspection campaign in the woodwork industry was launched on March 27 to promote compliance with labour laws in the sector, which is a big foreign currency earner for Vietnam.
The northern province of Vinh Phuc has paid great attention to job creation for rural labourers through policies to support vocation training and attract investment.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
