ASEAN Day on Disaster Management targets the handicapped

The ASEAN Day on Disaster Management 2013 (ADDM 2013), has been held in Bangkok, Thailand to raise public knowledge, especially among the handicapped, on correct information and procedures in dealing with natural disasters.

The Thai Department of DisasterPrevention and Mitigation, in cooperation with the Thai Red CrossSociety and a network of civil society organisations, organised theevent on the occasion of the UN’s International Day on DisasterReduction.

The Day is held annually throughout the ASEANregion, featuring exhibitions, discussions and disaster managementdemonstrations.

This year’s event targeted disabled people, who are at a higher risk of suffering disaster consequences.-VNA
