ASEAN high school science fair takes place in Thailand

Thailand’s National Science Museum (NSM) and Ministry of Science and Technology are coorganising the first ASEAN high school science fair, promoting Thailand as an international stage for academic science.

Thecontest pits high school students from seven ASEAN member countriesagainst each other for the best science fair project. The event, whichis being held at the NSM building in Pathum Thani province, will go onuntil July 10.

NSM Vice President Aphiya Hathayatham said thecontest would strengthen and spark interest in science among high schoolstudents in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines,Vietnam, and Laos.

During the five-day event, 110 students andteachers from the seven nations will spend time together, participatingin scientific activities and competing against one another.

Thecontest will determine the best projects in the categories of PhysicalScience, Biological Science, and Innovation. Winners will be given cashprizes and certificates from the organisers.-VNA
