Phnom Penh (VNA) – The flags of sportsdelegations to the 12th ASEAN Para Games wereraised at the Morodok Techno national sports complex in Phnom Penh,Cambodia, on June 2, marking the official presence of the 11 sportsdelegations to the regional sport event.
Deputy Director of theVietnam Sports Administration Nguyen Hong Minh, who is also head of theVietnamese sports delegation, joined heads of 10 other delegations tothe event.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hun Many, President of theUnion of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC) and Deputy Chairman ofthe National Paralympic Committee of Cambodia (NPCC), extended warmwelcome tothe participating delegations.
The 12th ASEAN Para Games, slated for June 3 - 9, is set to feature more than 400 competition categories of 14 sports.
Theopening and closing ceremonies of the 12th ASEAN Para Games will bebroadcast live at three locations in public areas in the capital city.
Cambodia has completed preparations for the 12th ASEAN Para Games at seven locations in Phnom Penh.
According to the National Paralympic Committee of Cambodia (NPCC), sevenvenues for 14 sport competitions at the Games include Morodok TechoNational Stadium, Olympic National Stadium and Union of Youth Federationof Cambodia (UYFC), National Sports Training Centre, Royal Universityof Phnom Penh (RUPP) and Naga World II.
The Morodok Techo National Stadium on the outskirts of Phnom Penh is thevenue for eight events, namely athletics, swimming, wheelchairbasketball, sitting volleyball, table tennis, badminton, blind footballand volleyball for the disabled.
The Vietnamese sports delegationto the event consists of 164 members, including 122 athletes. TheVietnamese athletes will compete in eight out of 13 sports at thetournament, namely track-and-field, swimming, weightlifting, badminton,table tennis, chess, judo, and boccia.
Vietnam is set to win 50-55 gold medals and named among the top four countries in the medal tally at the event.

🌄 Over 1,450 athletes to compete at ASEAN Para Games 12 in Cambodia
A total of 1,453 athletes from 11 countries will participate in the 12th Asean Para Games that will take place in Phnom Penh from June 3- 9, according to the Cambodian national organising committees for the 32nd SEA Games and 12th ASEAN Para Games (CAMSOC-CAMAPGOC).
