Ottawa (VNA) –
The 20thAsia-Pacific Chiefs of Defence Conference is taking place in Canada onSeptember 4-6 under the theme “The Future Security Environment: Challenges,Complexity and Cooperation”. Participants discussed emerging trends ofpopulation, economy, environment, society, science and technology in the IndianOcean and Asia-Pacific regions as well as prevention of extremism and violence,and peace support activities. Deputy Defence Minister Sen. Lieut. GeneralPhan Van Giang, who is also Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’sArmy, led a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to attend the conference. The trip was made at the invitation of AdmiralHarry. B. Harris, Commander of the US Pacific Command, and General Jonathan. H.Vance, Chief of the Defence Staff of Canada. 

Vietnam’s attendance at the event affirmed thecountry’s role and position in the region and the world through bilateral and multilateralforums on military and national defence. 

ﷺ It also contributes to asserting Vietnam’sforeign policy of multilateralisation and diversification of relations, as wellas its active, proactive and responsible international integration.-VNA
