Association plays role in fostering Vietnam-Japan friendship
The Association of Vietnamese Intellectuals in Japan (AVIJ) will work to promote scientific-technological, cultural and educational cooperation between Vietnam and Japan in 2021-2023.

Tokyo (VNA) - The Association ofVietnamese Intellectuals in Japan (AVIJ) will work to promote scientific-technological,cultural and educational cooperation between Vietnam and Japan in 2021-2023.
During its congress in Tokyo on April 16, theassociation set out operation orientations for the term when a database ofVietnamese scientists and experts in Japan is expected to be built.
The association will also organise activitiesmarking the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between the twocountries, heard the congress.
Ambassador Vu Hong Nam commended theassociation for its meaningful operations over the past time, notably its successfulorganisation of the Vietnam Summit in Japan in 2021 which brought togethernearly 900 Vietnamese intellectuals in the host country.
The congress elected a new executive board, with TaViet Phuong, who is working for Amazon Group in Japan, as president.
The AVIJ was established during a congress in Tokyo on November 14, 2019, aiming to gather Vietnamese individuals andintellectuals, and promote their role and position in Japan.
According to the Immigration Bureau of Japan, therewere over 371,000 Vietnamese people living in Japan as of late June 2019,becoming the third largest foreign community behind China and the Republic ofKorea./.
The Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association (VJFA) of Vinh Long province plans to increase activities to further develop bilateral ties and popularise the solidarity and friendship between the two countries, heard the association's second congress on March 31.
Vietnam and Japan have the potential to expand trade in various fields, particularly farm produce and food, experts said at a consultation for Vietnamese exporters held in both online and in-person formats on April 8.
Labour Hero, People's Teacher, Professor and Doctor Vo Tong Xuan - Honorary Rector of Nam Can Tho University was bestowed “the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon” by the Japanese government for his contributions to promoting agricultural cooperation between Vietnam and Japan, at a ceremony in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on April 13.
