Association strives to imbue community with learning spirit

Hanoi (VNA) – About 18.44 percentof the Vietnamese population are members of the Vietnam Association forPromoting Education (VAPE), which has spread its operation nationwide in thepast decade.

The information was reported at a meeting inHanoi on April 5 between the VAPE and its superior – the Vietnam FatherlandFront (VFF). The meeting reviewed VAPE’s performance to date and set out itsfuture tasks.

The association has worked to build a societyof learning, contributing to boosting workforce quality and building new-stylerural areas. It has also prevented thousands of students from dropping out ofschools.

VAPE President Nguyen Thi Doan attributedthe success of her association in its learning society promotion campaign toeffective coordination with the VFF and other VFF member groups.

She said the coordination will focus onboosting learning spirit in adults, which she considered a key factor fornational development.

To help the campaign spread further, sheproposed the VFF Central Committee direct its members at different levels towork with VAPE in implementing the Government’s Resolution 29 – NQ/TW oncomprehensive educational reform.

Chairman of the VFF Central Committee TranThanh Man lauded efforts made by the association in growing its membership.

He said he believes with dedication andexperience, VAPE will contribute more to national construction anddevelopment.-VNA
