At least 10 people were killed and three others went missing in the Philippines when Typhoon Goni, the strongest storm so far this year, hit Luzon island’s southern part on November 1, according to the country’s Office of Civil Defence (OCD).

An OCD report said that at least nine died in Albay provinceand one in Catanduanes island province, while three other people in Guinobatantown in Albay province were reported missing.
Typhoon Goni has also forced the displacement of over390,000 people, of whom more than 345,000 are staying in the government’sevacuation centres.
Typhoons and tropical storms regularly hit the Philippinesfrom June through December, claiming hundreds of lives and cause billions ofdollars in damage.
Located in the “Pacific Ring of Fire,” the Philippines isamong the most disaster-prone countries in the world, including activevolcanoes, frequent earthquakes, and an average of 20 typhoons a year causingfloods and landslides./.
Nguyen Van Tien, Deputy Chief of the Office of the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, on October 29 asked cities and provinces affected by Storm Molave to continue following instructions on disaster response.
