Awards promotes digital transformation, innovation

Hanoi (VNA) – Winners of the Vietnam Digital Awards 2023 (VDA 2023)were honoured at a ceremony held on October 7 by the Vietnam Digital Media Association(VDCA) under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Information and Communications.
Launched by the VDCA on April 18, the awards receivedover 350 entries from agencies, organisations and enterprises across thenation.
According to VDCA President Nguyen Minh Hong, a wide range of technologysolutions and outstanding digital transformation models were brought to the awards,especially in the fields of finance, education, tourism, industrial production,communications and public administration.
Thirty eight units and products were awarded across four categories of excellent digitaltechnology products, services and solutions, enterprises and non-business unitswith excellent digital transformation, state agencies with excellent digitaltransformation, and digital transformation solutions for the community.
Dr. Nguyen Quan, former Minister of Scienceand Technology and Chairman of the VDA 2023’s judging council, said the councilfocused on evaluating data technologies and platforms, as well as businessesand localities that have done well in building databases in accordance with thestandard framework of the Ministry of Information and Communications.
According to Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Huy Dung, theawards not only aims at honouring excellent individuals and organisations butalso affirms that only “Make in Vietnam” products best settle problems of Vietnamese people.
Describing data as a special asset, Dung said that the more the data are usedthe more values they will bring, thus it is necessary to promote digitalisationof data from organisations and agencies via new technologies such as AI anddeep learning to promote the values of data.
Organised for the sixth time, the Vietnam Digital Awards has so far attracted nearly1,800 entries, and honoured 400 excellent organisations and enterprises withexcellent solutions and products to further the digitalisation process./.
The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) will continue to accompany and support the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) in investing in payment and financial infrastructure development and promoting digital transformation, contributing to improving risk management in the local banking sector, stated BIS General Manager Agustin Carstens.
The financial sector has been ardently advocating for digital transformation, as this endeavour will be a pivotal element in the national digital shift and will also bolster digital transformation across other sectors, according to officials.
A conference on digital transformation themed “Technology for life” - Tech4life 2023 was held in Ho Chi Minh City on October 10 by the municipal Department of Information and Communications in collaboration with the Vietnam Software & IT services (VINASA) in response to the National Digital Transformation Day 2023 (October 10).
The role of the youth in digital transformation was highlighted at the 7th International Students Science Forum, which was held in Ho Chi Minh City from October 6-8.
Since 2022, more than 500 Vietnamese startups have engaged in Google’s Startup Academy, Google for Startups Accelerator, and Google Startup Masterclass. According to the Politburo’s Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, dated December 22, 2024, on making breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, this is considered a decisive factor in the development of nations. It is seen as a prerequisite and the best opportunity for Vietnam to become prosperous and powerful in the new era of the nation’s rise.
Vietnam’s demographic advantage, including a youthful population of 100 million in a “golden age”, further bolsters its ambitions. Its dynamic workforce, with a natural inclination toward science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), is a key asset in attracting private investment to innovation-driven sectors.
Vietnam views sci-tech as a decisive factor in national development and a key tool for achieving sustainable development goals, and is ready to boost sci-tech cooperation with Venezuela for mutual prosperity.
The Government will always accompany companies, including CMC, and request ministries, agencies, and Hanoi authorities to further support them by promptly removing any obstacles to their growth, said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
