Bac Ninh shares experience in labour, employment with Cuba

Bac Ninh (VNA) – ꧃A delegationof the Cuban Ministry of Labour and Social Security led by Minister MargaritaM. Gonzalez Fernandez paid a visit to the northern province of Bac Ninh onSeptember 10 to exchange experience in labour and employment.
At the meeting, Chairman of the provincialPeople’s Committee Nguyen Tu Quynh informed his guests on the socio-economicdevelopment of Bac Ninh. The province has led the country in industrialproduction value, and is also among the leading localities in various economic indicators.
Regarding employment, the chairman saidlocal workers only satisfy 30 percent of labour demand in the province’sindustrial parks. In addition, local craft villages create jobs for a largenumber of workers, therefore unemployment is almost non-existent in theprovince.
There are 10 universities and more than 40colleges and vocational schools in Bac Ninh, which provide a remarkable sourceof trained workers. In addition, the province has devised policies to supportbusinesses in training labourers.
☂ The official cited statistics that showed BacNinh has more than 727,000 workers aged15 and above, with more than half (50.8 percent) employed in industry andconstruction, over 32 percent in services, and 17 percent inagro-forestry-fishery.
The province has set up an employmentcentre under the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairsto help local labourers seek jobs.
At the event, the Cuban delegation inquiredinto the investment situation in the province and sectors contributing the mostto local socio-economic development. They were also interested in solutions tocreate jobs and ensure social welfare in the province.
