Beijing (VNA) – The Beijing Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau and the Environment Department of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Air Quality Monitoring and Management Cooperation on February 18.

Under the MoU, Bangkok and Beijing will concentrate on collaboration in the control of air pollution over the next three years.

Beijing will share its best practices in battling air pollution with Bangkok, particularly in monitoring and reducing PM2.5 pollutants to improve air quality.

Cooperation efforts will see Beijing facilitating mutual visits, while also offering training sessions and supporting Bangkok in its pilot projects.

In recent years, Beijing has significantly improved its air quality following clean-up initiatives.

Compared to 2013, the annual average concentrations of PM2.5 in Beijing last year had decreased by 65.9%.

ꦍ In 2024, the city, for the fourth consecutive year, has achieved the national level 2 air quality standard in the 6-level framework of air quality standards./.
