Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Deputy Government Spokesperson Sasikarn Wattanachun credited the city's remarkable culinary scene for its rise in the rankings, citing Bangkok’s "delicious flavors" and "convenience."

The survey underscored how easily accessible high-quality food is throughout the city, from bustling street food stalls offering quick meals to fast, efficient delivery services.

As a global hub for street food, Bangkok continues to impress with iconic food districts. Yaowarat (Chinatown) remains a top culinary destination, offering dishes like Guay Jab (rolled rice noodle soup), late-night porridge, and roasted chestnuts. The area also features cocktail bars open until dawn. Additionally, Bantadthong Road, a newly emerging food hotspot, earned a spot as the world’s 14th-best street for food.

Despite Bangkok's global recognition, the survey revealed opportunities for further growth in Thailand’s food industry. While high-end restaurants are leading the way in innovative cuisine, there is a call for more mid-range establishments offering affordable yet creative dishes. Expanding these options could strengthen Bangkok’s position as a world-class food destination, attracting more tourists and food lovers.

🎃 Sasikarn also emphasised the government’s commitment to boosting Thailand’s food sector by promoting the use of premium local ingredients and positioning the country as a regional food hub. She highlighted Thai cuisine as a vital soft power, driving tourism, food exports, and economic growth./.
