Binh Duong: 259 people brought to trial following riots

Police from the southern province of Binh Duong have brought legal proceedings against 259 people allegedly involved in recent disturbance in the locality, according to sources on May 22.

They are chargedwith causing public disorder, destroying and appropriating assets,handling stolen property, and resisting on-duty officials across 117cases.

The police and authorised agencies are preparing to bringto trial other suspects who were also involved in the disturbances inlocal industrial parks recently.

The suspects are believed tohave taken advantage of industry workers’ parades to protest China’sillegal placement of an oil rig in Vietnam’s waters to commit thecrimes.-VNA
