Binh Thuan: 15 sentenced for social disturbance

The People’s Court of Tuy Phong district in the central province of Binh Thuan on March 7 handed prison terms to 15 people for disturbing public order in Hoa Minh commune and Phan Ri Cua town on June 10 last year.

Binh Thuan (VNA) – The People’s Court of Tuy Phong district in thecentral province of Binh Thuan on March 7 handed prison terms to 15 people fordisturbing public order in Hoa Minh commune and Phan Ri Cua town on June 10 last year.

All of the 15 were prosecuted by the district’s People’s Procuracyon the charge of “disturbing public order” under Clause 2, Article 318, the2015 Penal Code (revised).

According to theindictment, from 8:00-23:00 of June 10, 2018, many people gathered on NationalHighway 1A and Nam bridge in Hoa Minh commune.  The defendants incited others to disturbpublic order and damage many motorcycles and automobiles, and blocked vehiclesrunning through the highway and the bridge, thus causing serious traffic jamsin nearly 15 hours.

They also threwbricks, stones and tree branches at police officers, injuring some of them.

The jury gave prisonterms ranging from 2 to 3.5 years to the defendants.

Earlier, on July 23last year, the same court handed prison terms ranging from 2 to 3.5 years to another10 men on the same charge in the same case.-VNA
