HCM City (VNA) ꦡ– Relations between the UK and Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City in particular will not be affected as the UK leaves the EU, affirmed Lord Price, Minister of State for Trade Policy at the UK Department for International Trade.

Lord Price told Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong on October 18 that the UK wishes to continue developing cooperation with Vietnam and the southern metropolis, especially in trade and investment
The UK guest said his visit to Vietnam aims to study investment opportunities in the country and convey the UK’s desire for stronger links with Vietnam and the city even after the UK leaves the EU. He hailed Vietnam’s efforts in reforming administrative procedures, fighting corruption and improving th investment climate.
UK investors will provide financial support and transfer techniques to HCM City to help it become a smart urban area, he said. Phong thanked the UK Government for its assistance in building metro line No. 5 and training human resources to implement the project. He noted his wish to receive more support from the UK in development programmes, especially in infrastructure and smart urban development.-VNA
