Businesses team up to help develop Binh Duong smart city

Binh Duong(VNA) – Subsidiaries of Vietnam’s Becamex IDC Corp. and Japan’s NTT East willpartner in developing information and communications technology (ICT) to helpsouthern Binh Duong province build a smart city.

On January 24, the provincial People’s Committeepresented the project investment certificate to the Vietnam Technology &Telecommunication JSC (VNTT) of Becamex IDC and the NTT Vietnam Corporation ofNTT East.

Earlier, the two parent firms had inked amemorandum of understanding on ICT cooperation in the initial stage of buildingthe Binh Duong smart city. Basing on this deal, NTT Vietnam inked a businesscooperation contract with VNTT to provide telecom and ICT services in theprovince.

At the certificate presentation ceremony,affiliates of the Vietnamese and Japanese groups also signed a memorandum onthe feasibility study, building and operation of a data centre in BinhDuong. 

This centre will be a precondition forattracting major financial and e-commerce enterprises to locate their serversin Vietnam, and also for developing local trading activities and services inthe future.

The provincial administration approved the “BinhDuong smart city” plan two years ago with a focus on human resources,technology, businesses and foundation factors.

Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee DangMinh Hung highly valued the partnership between VNTT and NTT Vietnam inrealising an important component of the “Binh Duong smart city” plan. He alsocalled on more sectors and businesses to develop this field amid the intensiveinternational integration and Industry 4.0.-VNA
