Ca Mau (VNA) – The southernmost province of Ca Mau has drafted seven major tasks and solutions for its slow-growing tourism sector towards the goal of drawing 1.7 million tourists, including 50,000 foreign visitors by 2020.

The provincial authorities instructed departments and sectors to coordinate in developing tourism products, revise and draft development plans for tourist areas and destinations in line with the development plans of the province and the tourism sector to 2020 with a vision to 2030.

Besides, Ca Mau pushes ahead with administrative reform to create a more favourable environment for investors.

The province plans to invest in key destinations of cultural and historical interests along with ecotourism sites.

According to the provincial Party Committee, Ca Mau’s tourism sector has not tapped its full potential and pointed out some of the biggest obstacles like the slow implementation of tourism projects and poor road infrastructure.

Besides that, other weaknesses include ineffective promotion activities, low quality of tourism services, and monotonous tourism products.

Ca Mau is endowed with pristine beautiful natural scenerౠy, with vast green forests of cajeput and mangrove, the most well-known being the U Minh and Nam Can forests.

Eight rivers run through the province, forming a network of over 7,000km of rivers and canals with unique beauty and diverse culinary specialties. The must-see destination in the province is Cape Ca Mau, the southernmost point of the country, in Mui Hamlet, Dat Mui Commune, Ngoc Hien District. The Cape is the only place on the country’s mainland that sees the sun rising from the East Sea and setting in the western sea.-VNA
