Tep Ngorn, Standing Member of the Cambodian People’s Party(CPP) Central Committee, Senate Vice President and Vice President of the NationalCouncil of Solidarity Front for the Development of Cambodia Motherland, madethe statement at a meeting with Secretary of the Party Central Committee memberand Presidentof the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Tran Thanh Man in Hanoion January 4.
Earlier the same day, the Cambodian official attended aceremony marking the 40th anniversary of the victory of the southwestborder defence war and the joint victory of Vietnam and Cambodia over the Polpotgenocidal regime (January 7).
At the meeting, Man highlighted the importance of theceremony as a reminder of a glorious memory shared between the two nations nowand later.
He congratulated Cambodia on its significant socio-economic,and defence-security achievements, adding that the delegation and experienceexchanges between Vietnamese and Cambodian Party, State, and Front leaders havehelped foster the two nations’ comprehensive and long-standing cooperation.
Affirming that the VFF supports the role of the NationalCouncil of Solidarity Front for the Development of Cambodia Motherland, Manexpected the two fronts continue boosting their ties through further delegationexchanges.
He stressed that the Vietnamese Party, State and front andrelevant agencies have created favourable conditions for Cambodian expatriatesin Vietnam, and asked for similar treatment towards Vietnamese people inCambodia.
For his part, Tep Ngorn spoke highly of the ceremony, notingthat images on display and speeches delivered at the event reflect thehistorical significance of the victory against the genocidal regime and thevalue of peace and independence regained by the two nations.
The ceremony helped youths and international friendsunderstand the period during which Vietnam and Cambodia together overcamedifficulties and followed their tradition of fighting for independence, headded.
The official further stated that the Cambodian Party, Stateand parliament always pay attention to reinforcing the traditional relations withVietnam as well as the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam friendship.-VNA
