PhnomPenh (VNA) - Cambodian government officials  on September 14 denied claims that formerThai prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra fled Thailand via Cambodia to escape acourt judgment last month.

InteriorMinistry spokesman Khieu Sopheak said Shinawatra did not cross the country’sborder and urged Thai police to further investigate CCTV footage.

IfShinawatra had been found in Cambodia, she would have been sent back toThailand immediately, he added.

Oneday earlier, Thai police revealed that two vehicles were allegedly used totransport Shinawatra to the eastern province of Sa Kaeo, which bordersCambodia. CCTV footage showed a woman inside one of the vehicles, but it couldnot be confirmed whether this was the ex-PM.

Lastmonth, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen stated there was no record of Shinawatracoming through his country.

YingluckShinawatra fled Thailand prior to the ruling in her rice subsidy scheme trial. Shefaces a maximum prison term of 10 years if convicted.-VNA
