Phnom Penh (VNA) – The Cambodia Sea Festival 2015 with the theme of “Clean bay, strong economy” took place from December 11-13 in Kampot province.
The event drew the participation of travel agencies from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam and tens of thousands of local and international tourists.
Cambodia Deputy Prime Minister Sok An told the opening ceremony on December 12 night that the Cambodian government considers tourism the key sector that contributes to creating jobs and increasing income for people.
The festival is one of efforts by the Cambodian government to tap into tourism potential of coastal provinces and support the implementation of the government’s policies on sustainable tourism development.
Cambodia has around 500 kilometres of coastline with many beautiful beaches in Kep, Sihanoukville and Kampot provinces, with some included in the list of the world’s most beautiful beaches.
