Cambodia, Thailand win shared title of world’s best rice

Twenty five ricesamples from 15 countries and territories, including Cambodia,Thailand, Vietnam, India, Myanmar and the US, were submittedto the competition.

President of the Cambodian RiceFederation Sok Puthyvuth said this was the third time Cambodia’sfragrant rice (Romduol) won the award.

During the first 10 months of this year, Cambodia exported 304,788 tonnes of rice, earning around 180 million USD.

Chookiat Ophaswongse, President of the Thai Rice ExportersAssociation, said Thailand was one of the world's largest riceexporters, adding that their rice quality was recognisedinternationally.

The country has so far exportedapproximately 8 million tonnes of rice, which is expected to reach 10.5million tonnes by the end of the year.-VNA
