Cambodian delegation extends New Year greetings to Vinh Long
A delegation from Banteay Meanchey province of Cambodia led by the province's Governor Oum Reatrey paid a visit to the Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long on January 23 on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) - the biggest traditional festival in a year in Vietnam.

Vinh Long (VNA) – A delegation from Banteay Meancheyprovince of Cambodia led by the province's Governor Oum Reatrey paid a visit to theMekong Delta province of Vinh Long on January 23 on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) - thebiggest traditional festival in a year in Vietnam.
Speaking at the meeting with the delegation, Chairman of the VinhLong provincial People’s Committee Lu Quang Ngoi highlighted the traditional relationsbetween Vietnam and Cambodia.
According to the official, the MoU on development cooperation signed between Vinh Long and Banteay Meanchey in 2011 and otherdocuments on cooperation in the 2012-2016 and 2017-2022 periods have contributed to strengthening the solidarity and cooperation between the two localities.
This year, the two localities plan to ink a cooperation agreement for the 2024-2029 period, Ngoi said.
Vinh Long is home to about 22,000 Khmer peopleor 2.2% of its population, he said, adding that the provincial authorities always pay attention to implementing policies on ethnic groups of the Party and theState, helping Khmer people improve their material and spiritual lives.
The official expressed his hope that the goodneighbourliness, traditional friendship, and comprehensive and long-termsustainable cooperation between the two countries and the localitieswill grow stronger in the coming time.
For his part, Reatrey extended his New Year wishes to the localParty organisation, authorities and people.
