Cambodian parliament holds plenary session

The National Assembly of Cambodia began its fourth plenary session of the 5th legislature on April 7 after a three-month recess.

Some 110 lawmakers, including Prime Minister Hun Sen and opposition leader Sam Rainsy, attended the session.

King Norodom Sihamoni sent a royal message to the opening session,which was read National Assembly President Heng Samrin.

In the message, the King expressed his hope that the NationalAssembly, which represents Cambodian people, will continue to settlechallenges to ensure a solid society with peace, political stability,security, order, and sustainable development.

The assembly comprises of 123 lawmakers with 68 from the rulingCambodian People's Party (CPP) and 55 from the opposition CambodiaNational Rescue Party (CNRP).-VNA

Thai Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Vuttikrai Leewiraphan Thailand's formal proposal will be substantial enough for the US to consider further detailed negotiations.
