Can Tho (VNA) – A conference to disseminate information on a number of the free trade agreements (FTAs) to which Vietnam is a signatory was opened in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on March 18.

Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Truong Quang Hoai Nam said the event aimed at presenting the content of three FTAs which Vietnam signed in 2015 and early this year, namely the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the Vietnam- Eurasian Economic Union.

The event is an occasion for relevant entities and interested parties to study the results of the FTAs, the opportunities and challenges they present, as well as to hear recommendations and commitments on tariffs under the framework of the trade deals, he added.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Quoc Khanh revealed his ministry will continue to work with provinces and cities to hold such event events in the Central Highlands and South Central regions.

The conference, the seventh of its kind, was part of the ministry’s FTA dissemination programme which takes place from December 2015 to the end of the first quarter of this year.

꧑ Following the programme, the ministry and relevant authorities will organise conferences giving details information on the FTAs to associations, sectors and businesses.-VNA
