Can Tho inaugurates memorial site for late President Ho Chi Minh

The Military Zone 9 High Command, headquartered in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, opened its memorial site to honour the late President Ho Chi Minh at a ceremony on May 31.

Can Tho (VNA) – The Military Zone 9 High Command,headquartered in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, opened its memorial site tohonour the late President Ho Chi Minh at a ceremony on May 31.

The site, spanning 1,200 square metres, includes a450-square-metre wooden memorial house.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Hoang Thuy, Commander of the MilitaryZone 9, said the site is a place for military officers and people in the deltato come paying respect to the late President.

It contributes to educating the younger generation on thecountry’s patriotic tradition and revolutionary spirit, encouraging them tostudy and follow the ideology, morality and style of President Ho Chi Minh andmake contributions to their country, he added.

President Ho Chi Minh (1890-1969) was the founder of theCommunist Party of Vietnam. He founded and led the Vietnamese revolution tovictory with the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now theSocialist Republic of Vietnam, in 1945./.
