– Can Tho’s voters showed their specialattention to issues related to corruption, toll in BOT roads, food safety, andgreen agriculture when meeting National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Nganon September 27.

Many voters pointed to difficulties in making birth certificate andfamily registration for children of Vietnamese-foreign parents.

In reply, the top legislator assigned Can Tho to review this group of childrento ensure they access schooling and all of their rights.

Answering the question of voter Tran Thanh Phong from Tan Hoi commune onthe anti-corruption progress, the NA leader said that in the next meeting, theNA will make amendments to the Anti-Corruption Law.

She added that the Government has inspected major corruption cases,while the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission is examining andhandling Party members with link to corruption. Strict punishments will beapplied to corrupt officials, she assured.

In response to queries on measures to deal with unreasonable toll insome toll plazas along national highways, she said that the Government and the Ministryof Transport are reviewing the fee for timely adjustments. At the same time,the NA will also continue strengthening supervision over BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer)projects, especially in transport.

Lauding An Thoi commune voters’ interest in green agriculturedevelopment, the NA leader assigned Can Tho city to send officials to seeksuitable production models to develop in the commune, while encouraging theformation of cooperation in processing and preserving farm produce.

During her stay in Can Tho, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan andmunicipal leaders visited and presented gifts to disadvantaged children on theoccasion of upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival.-VNA
