Central Highland officials congratulate top Buddhists

Lu Ngoc Cu, a permanent member of thecommittee, recognised the role and contributions of Buddhist monks,nuns, and followers to the local socio-economic development.

He affirmed that the Party and State always pay attention toimplementing policies and laws on religion and Buddhism in particular.

Cu said he hopes the Buddhist clergy and followers willaccompany the nation in building a happy life for all people, helpingmaintain the political security in the region.

Most VenerableThich Chau Quang, head of the board, said the local Buddhists willactively participate in programmes promoting national unity and buildinga society of peace, prosperity and happiness.

Buddhism hasbeen practised in Vietnam for over 2,000 years. The country is home tomore than 12 million Buddhist followers, 40,000 monks and nuns andalmost 15,000 temples, monasteries or places to worship Buddha.-VNA
