It will be replaced by digital terrestrial television, which will provide a greater number of channels and better quality of picture and sound.
The move is in line with a national project approved by the Prime Minister in 2011 to digitise terrestrial television broadcasting throughout the country. The four-phase project aims to switch to digital terrestrial television broadcasting across the country by the end of 2020.-VNA
The number of Pay TV subscribers has reached 9.9 million nationwide by the end of last month, according to the Ministry of Information and Communications's report.
The central province of Thua Thien-Hue decided to spend 60 billion VND (2.69 million USD) on broadcasting digitisation and digital terrestrial television broadcasting.
