Hanoi (VNA) – According to the National Committeefor Incident, Disaster Response, Search and Rescue of Vietnam, while operating ata location about 130 nautical miles east-northeast of Linh Con Island ofVietnam’s Hoang Sa archipelago on June 5, a Vietnamese fishing boat coded QNa90439TS requested urgent support since a crew member was injured and inlife-threatening condition.
Shortly after being notified, the ForeignMinistry’s Consular Department asked the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam to liaisewith relevant agencies of China to provide urgent support. It also asked theVietnamese Embassy in China to ask for timely assistance.
The Vietnamese Embassy in China cited the hostcountry’s maritime search and rescue centre as saying that on June 6, the NanHai Jiu 117 vessel was deployed to search for and successfully rescue theinjured fisherman at the request of Vietnam.
After that, the fisherman received medicaltreatment given by the Chinese side. He, in stable health condition, was sentback to the Vietnamese fishing boat on June 8.-VNA
