Beijing (VNA) - Chinese experts have highly valued Party General Secretary To Lam's recent article titled “Combating Wastefulness” and highlighted its significance in Vietnam's current period.

Ling Dequan, a researcher on Vietnam, described the article as a comprehensive and profound analysis of a critical task for Vietnam in its era of nation's rising.

Speaking to the Vietnam News Agency in China, Ling emphasised that combating wastefulness and promoting thrift practices is essential for Vietnam to, under the sound leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), accelerate Vietnam’s overall development and optimise its resources to achieve the two centennial goals.

He praised Vietnam’s accomplishments in the fight against internal corruption, calling them remarkable achievements that have strengthened the country’s political system and a fundamental measure to ensure Vietnam’s long-term stability and prosperity.

According to Ling, Lam and the CPV have launched a strong offensive against wastefulness, akin to their battle against corruption. He held that this decisive action will maximise national resources, enhance efficiency across all sectors, and contribute significantly to achieving the goals set forth at the CPV’s 13th National Congress and the 10th plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee.

Ling stressed that resources, whether national or global, are finite. Establishing a thrifty society is not just a strategic necessity but also a reflection of humanity’s evolving understanding of the balance between nature and society. He asserted that fostering a culture of thrift is vital for sustainable development, and when thrift becomes a societal habit and a core value, a truly economical society will emerge. Ling expressed confidence that Vietnam’s efforts to build such a culture will yield tangible results in its new era of development.

Meanwhile, Wei Wei, head of the Vietnamese language division at the China Central Radio and Television, referred to wastefulness as a major issue that contradicts Vietnam’s cultural values and undermines governance. Wastefulness, if unchecked, may alienate the Party from the people, eroding its foundation of support, Wei held.

He stressed the need for stringent measures to combat wastefulness, emphasising the necessity to instill pride in thrift and shame in wastefulness.

He suggested a number of solutions to promote thrift culture, including raising public awareness, establishing strict mechanisms to deter wastefulness, and treating wastefulness as seriously as corruption. Additionally, Wei advocated for green lifestyles, emphasising sustai൩nableཧ consumption and reduced carbon footprints to create a civilised and progressive society./.
