Chinese Premier meets Singaporean Prime Minister

Hanoi (VNA) –
The bilateralcooperation between China and Singapore in various fields has seen steadyprogresses, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang told Singaporean Prime Minister Lee HsienLoong during their meeting in Beijing on April 29.

Li said an upgraded free trade agreement (FTA)between the two countries has exerted positive effects.

China is willing to work with Singapore to speedup negotiations of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP),conclude consultations on the Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) inaccordance with the set goals, he said.

He added that China is also ready to coordinatewith Singapore to promote cooperation within the China-ASEAN mechanism, so asto promote stability, development and prosperity in the region.

For his part, Lee said Singapore stands ready toactively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative.

The Singaporean PM is scheduled to meet PresidentXi Jinping in Beijing on the same day.

China and Singapore will mark the 30th foundinganniversary of diplomatic ties in 2020.-VNA
