Cinnamon festival highlights Yen Bai's rich cultural-economic landscape
The 5th cinnamon festival of the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai’s Van Yen district kicked off on January 5, celebrating the district’s cultural and economic symbol with a variety of exciting activities.

Yen Bai (VNA) –🌜 The 5th cinnamon festival of the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai’s Van Yen district kicked off on January 5, celebrating the district’s cultural and economic symbol with a variety of exciting activities.
Key events included a fair showcasing cinnamon-related products, machinery, and farming tools, as well as a traditional market featuring nearly 30 stalls offering local agricultural specialties. Attendees were also treated to a photo exhibition, a cinnamon product processing competition, reenactments of traditional Dao ethnic rituals, and several traditional sports contests.
Ha Duc Anh, Chairman of the Van Yen People’s Committee, emphasised that the festival aims to promote the district’s cinnamon products to both domestic and international markets. It also serves as a platform for businesses to network, exchange ideas, and explore opportunities in cinnamon cultivation, processing, and trade. Additionally, the festival seeks to build a value chain and attract investment in related deep-processing industries.
Notably, this year’s festival coincides with Van Yen’s recognition as a new-style rural area, its receipt of the second-class Labour Order, and the celebration of its 60th anniversary.

Van Yen is Vietnam’s largest cinnamon-growing region, with over 57,000 hectares of plantations and more than 50 types of cinnamon products. The local cinnamon has been granted geographical indication protection both domestically and internationally, and is certified with its own trademark./.
