The Government Cipher Committee on September 12 received the Ho Chi Minh Order for the second time for its decisive role in protecting national secrecy over the past 70 years, but is warned of enormous challenges stemming from global uncertainties and visible cyber warfare. The Committee marked its 70th founding anniversary and received the honour presented by State President Truong Tan Sang in Hanoi on September 12.
In his remarks, the State leader praised the sector for working behind the scene to protect confidential information of the Party and State, significantly contributing to the past struggle for national liberation and reunification as well as the present cause of national construction and defence. He pointed to current global and regional uncertainties, robust scientific-technological development, especially IT and telecommunications, hostile force wicked plots, and cyber war taking shape as challenges to test the sector in the coming time.
The sector needs to team up with other force like police, army and diplomacy and make the best use of domestic scientific and technological resources in overcoming these challenges to serve socio-economic development, President Sang said. He expressed his belief that the cipher sector will carry forward its traditions and accomplish all assigned tasks to deserve its position as one of the reliable forces of the Party and the State in national security protection. On this occasion, President Sang visited the sector’s museum.-VNA
