Chief of the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP)’s Executive Committee of Takeo province’s Pray Kabbas district Chhea Tang Sorn has been arrested for distributing leaflets warning against Vietnamese policies towards Cambodia and disrupting national security. On August 29, Chhea Tang Sorn handed out leaflets accusing Vietnam of destroying Cambodia by poisoning food and buying off Cambodia officials, undermining the strictness of Cambodian law, according to Takeo police.
They affirmed that the contents of leaflets are groundless and disrupting national security. Earlier on August 15, Cambodian police arrested Senator of the opposition CNRP Party Hong Sok Hour for distorting a Cambodia-Vietnamese agreement on border affairs.
Prime Minister Hun Sen also accused Hong Sok Hour of posting material about the 1979 border agreement that amounts to treason. The Senate later decided to remove his parliamentary immunity. He was charged on three counts of falsifying public documents, using fake documents and inciting chaos disrupting social security.-VNA
