At least 10 people were killed and nine others injured in a coachcollision in the central province of Binh Thuan on February 9.
The accident occurred at around 1:30 am in Ham Minhcommune, Ham Thuan Nam district, when a 30-seat bus, on its way fromPhan Thiet city to southern Ho Chi Minh City , collided with anothercoach carrying about 45 passengers.
The victims were rushed to hospital right after the accident.
Seven out of the 10 dead victims have been identified so far, including the drivers of the two vehicles.
Deputy head of the provincial committee for traffic safety Pham VanNam, deputy head of the provincial health department Nguyen Quoc Viet,and local police were present at the accident site to regulate thetraffic flow and protect the site and properties of the victims.
Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Le Tien Phuong extendedhis condolences to the victims receiving treatment at the hospitals.
The local People’s Committee will support 7 million VND (329 USD) incash for the bereaved families, and some 2.5-3.5 million VND for theinjured.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.-VNA
According to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRC), this year’s campaign provided long-term aid for 3,785 individuals and organisations. Support included houses, clean water systems, school meal facilities, books, and livelihood assistance, with a total value of more than 118 billion VND.
