New Delhi (VNA) – Indian experts at a conferencein New Delhi, India on August 9 stressed the important role by young scholars,as well as the need to step up cooperation between Vietnamese and Indianuniversities.

The Young Scholars Conference was jointly held by the Centrefor Vietnamese Studies (CVS) and the Vietnamese Embassy in India. It aims tohelp young scholars express their opinions on the India-Vietnam relations indifferent aspects, thus enriching their understanding about the time-honouredties.

Professor Sonu Trivedi, CVS Director, said cooperationbetween Vietnamese and Indian universities and institutes would help reinforcerelations between people of the two countries.

Dr. Ash Narain Roy, Director of the Institute of SocialSciences, suggested ways to help young scholars conduct research studies.

Professor Darvesh Gopal from Indira Gandhi National OpenUniversity spoke highly of the deep cultural and historical ties betweenVietnam and India, as well as sentiments of Indian people towards Vietnamese.

There are huge opportunities for the two countries to forgetheir collaboration in many fields, especially via India’s “Act East” policy,he said.

Vietnamese Deputy Ambassador Nguyen Le Thanh told youngVietnamese and Indian scholars how to contribute to the bilateral relationshipfounded by President Ho Chi Minh and Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, andcultivated by generations of leaders and peoples of the two countries.

She quoted Indian PM Narendra Modia as saying that Vietnamplays an important role in India’s “Act East” policy, and President Tran DaiQuang’s statement affirming India as one of Vietnam’s most important partners.-VNA
