Hanoi (VNA) - Top leaders of Vietnam on December 1 sent messages of congratulationsto their Lao counterparts on the nation’s 42nd National Day (December2).

Congratulatory messagesfrom General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee NguyenPhu Trong, President Tran Dai Quang, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, andNational Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan were delivered to GeneralSecretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee andPresident Bounnhang Vorachith, Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith, and NationalAssembly Chairwoman Pany Yathotou.

In the messages,the Vietnamese leaders highlighted the continuous development of the greatfriendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties,States, and people of Vietnam and Laos.

Theycongratulated the Lao people on their huge achievements in the cause ofnational protection and construction under the leadership of the Lao People'sRevolutionary Party over the past 42 years.

The Vietnameseleaders also expressed their belief that the Vietnam-Laos, Laos-VietnamFriendship and Solidarity Year 2017, which celebrates the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations and 40 years since the signing of the Vietnam-LaosTreaty on Amity and Cooperation, will mark a milestone in the gloriousdevelopment paths of both nations.

The same day,Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh cabled a congratulatorymessage to Lao Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith.

Head of theCommunist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Commission for ExternalRelations Hoang Binh Quan also extended a message of congratulations to his Laocounterpart Sunthon Xayachack.-VNA
