Hanoi (VNA) – Many countries have condemned abombing attack on a bus carrying Vietnamese tourists in the Egyptian provinceof Giza that killed four persons, including three Vietnamese on December 28 (Egypttime).
In a statement, spokesperson from the US Department of StateRobert Palladino affirmed that Washington will stand with Cairo in the fightagainst terrorism and help government of the North African country bring the perpetratorsto justice.
The Russian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned theterrorist attack in Egypt, including those against foreign tourists, andexpressed support to Egypt’s steps to fight extremism.
The ministry warned Russian citizens in Egypt to remain cautious and avoid travelling to areas where theterrorist threat is high.
Head of the European Uniondelegation in Egypt Ivan Surkos called on the international community to standunited against terrorism.
Meanwhile, UK Ambassador to EgyptGeoffrey Adams expressed his condolences to families of victims and all thoseaffected in the incident on his Twitter page, affirming that the UK willpartner with Egypt in the fight against terrorism.
Regional countries, including ArabSaudi, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain, also condemned the attack and pledged to joinhands with Egypt against violence plots and terror attacks, while expressing theirhope that the injured will soon recover.
A bus carrying Vietnamese touristswas hit by a roadside bomb near the world-famous Giza pyramids at 6:15pm on December 28 (Egypt time) or 23:15pm (Vietnamtime), killing three Vietnamese and an Egyptian.
There were 18 people on the bus at that time, including 15 Vietnamese touristsand three Egyptians, said the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt.
Of the 12 Vietnamese injuries, 10 are seriously injured and being treated inhospital.
The improvisedexplosive device was placed near a wall along the Mariyutiya streetin Al-Haram district, near Giza pyramid.
EgyptianProsecutor-General Nabil Sadek then requested an immediate investigation intothe attack.
On December 29,the Egyptian Ministry of Interior announced that the police killed 40terrorists in raids in Giza and North Sinai provinces in the morning the sameday, a day after the attack.-VNA
