Hanoi (VNA) - The Lao Ministry of Health on October 3 announced thatthe country had recorded 301 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours,including 296 domestic infections, bringing the national count to 25,217.

The pandemic situation remains complicated in Vientiane capitalcity when it recorded 150 community cases in a day.

Therefore, Vientiane decided to extend lockdown order untilOctober 15. The capital still maintains checkpoints to ensure proper travel andpromote vaccinations against COVID-19.

Meanwhile, Singapore’s Health Ministry said on October 2that the number of COVID-19 infections in the country surpassed the 100,000benchmark as an additional 2,356 new cases were detected. The national tally had stood at 101,786as of the end of October 2.

The ministry also announced four more deaths, raising thetotal number of fatalities to 107.

As of October 1, 85 percent of the country’s population hadgot at least one shot of vaccine against COVID-19, and 82 percent of thepopulation had been vaccinated fully.

From October 7, quarantine measures for incoming travellers toSingapore will be determined based on the travellers’ recent travel history inthe last 14 days, instead of 21 days.

The Stay-Home Notice (SHN) for those who are fully inoculated will be reducedto 10 days from 14 days, due to the shorter incubation period of the Deltavariant./.
